He was predeceased by: his wife Deborah Carroll (Ruo); his parents, Agnes Carroll (Linehan) and Joseph A. Carroll Sr.; and his brother Robert. He is survived by: his children, Temple Carroll (Scott Howe) of East Boston and Dylan Carroll; his grandchild Jewel; and his siblings, Elizabeth Steele, Mary Smith and Thomas. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Joe and I were contemporaries at Christopher Columbus HS. My wife, Patricia, was in the same class as Debbie at Sacred Heart HS. All went well. Outside after the births we were ecstatic.
