He was predeceased by: his parent Patrick J.; and his siblings, Patrick J. "Joe" Rafferty, Jr, Helene W. Rafferty and Mary Spates. He is survived by: his parent Ellen T. Raftery (O'Brien); his daughter Ellen Raftery-Ernst (Andrew) of Marblehead; his grandchildren, Andrew John and Emily P. Ernst; and his siblings, Thomas Raftery of Burlington, Anna Loughlin of Burlington and Theresa Elliot of Burlington.
