He was predeceased by: his wife Marilyn J. Mills (Sprague); and his parents, Francis Mills and Miriam Mills (Lovett). He is survived by: his children, Lynette, Joe Lopez, Thomas, Maureen Broughey, James, Colleen Broughey, Laurene Gilbert, Michael, Wendy Mills, Lisa, Jeff Sakowich and Timothy Broughey; his siblings, Robert, Linda Mills, Edward Mills, Barry, Joanna Mills, Diane McGilvery and Patricia Mills; and his pet Mandi. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren.
