He was predeceased by: his parents, Valdemiro C. Melo and Maria L. Melo (Veiga). He is survived by: his sons, Val Melo Jr. of Washington State and Dennis Melo; his siblings, Manuel Melo of Lowell, Rita Ghizzo (Adair) of Lowell and Carlos Melo (Mildred) of Litchfield, NH; and his half-sisters, Eldora Silva of Graciosa, Zelia Chaves of Graciosa and Azores. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the McDonough Funeral Home (14 Highland St, Lowell, MA 01852). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
