He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Smith (Chiasson); and his brother Lincoln Smith of Burlington. He is survived by: his children, Debora Gallagher (Robert) of Lexington and Robert E. Smith, Jr. (Jane) of Woburn; his sister Ann Woodward; his grandchildren, Caitlin, Lindsay, Meghan, Kelley, Robert, Sarah and Erin; and his close friend Gen O'Neill. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
