He was predeceased by: his siblings, Kersti Hammermeister, Pearn P. Niiler and Kaia Rubel; and his parents, Herbert Aleksander Juhan Niiler and Lydia Niiler (Kurikoff).
He is survived by: his wife Joan M. Niiler (Elser); his children, Craig (Kristine), Elise Rowley (Michael) of Lexington, MA and Cynthia of Waltham, MA.; his grandchildren, Kurt of Burke, VT, Sonia Rowley of Pittsburgh, PA, Emma of Essex Junction, VT and Peter Rowley (Terryn) of Berkeley, CA; his siblings, Andrus Niiler, Viiu Niiler and Riste Capps; and his brother-in-law Rudolf Hammermeister.
