Joseph Yamron Obituary
Joseph Yamron of Lexington, MA and previously of Concord, MA and Lincoln, MA passed away on October 31, 2021 at the age of 93.
He was born in 1928 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. In 1949, Mr. Yamron graduated from MIT. He spent the next 8 years at MIT's Instrumentation laboratory when he met his beloved Joan. They had three children, built a family and enjoyed a wonderful 51 year marriage until she passed after a long illness. He went on to an active retired life at Brookhaven in Lexington where he was a member of the Finance Committee, leader of a political issues discussion group and made friends he valued deeply. While there he reconnected with Ruth Wollter whom he had met after college. After nearly 60 years without speaking they fell in love and married in 2015. Sadly, Ruth passed the following year.
In 1958 Mr. Yamron joined United Aircraft where he was issued five patents in fields of guidance, flight control and reentry technology. This technology was used on the LEM vehicle that landed on the moon in 1969. In 1972 he joined Northrop Corporation where he headed their Precision Products Division in Norwood, MA. Under his 18 years of leadership, PPD became the leading designer and producer of advanced guidance systems and gyros.
In the Boston community Mr. Yamron was a Director and two term chairman for the Associated Industries of Massachusetts. He was a Director of the World Affairs Counsel of Boston and a life overseer of the Museum of Science He maintained a lifelong commitment to MIT where he served as a lecturer for over 20 years.
He will be deeply missed by his three children; son Daniel and wife Betsy, son Jonathan and daughter Sarah Howe and husband John. He was the loving grandfather of nine; David, Molly and husband LJ, Rachel, Alex, Ben, Jacqueline and husband Peter, Eliza and husband Noah, Rosie and Luke. In his last years the lights of his life were Georgia, Bo, Eve, Sophie and Felix, his five adored great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved sister Janet Yamron of Philadelphia.
Family members will gather for a private burial service on Sunday, November 7th at Lincoln Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Michael Luckens. All are invited to a reception at the home of Joseph's granddaughter, Molly, at 44 Pine Street in Sudbury, MA on Sunday at 2:00 pm.
