He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Dr. Daniel Dorman and Dorothy Dorman; his wife Charlene Diane Tropeano; his children, Todd Dorman (Beverly Lacy), Bianca (David Humphries) and Lydia (Jonathan Smith); his grandchildren, Daniel, William Dorman, Jack, Samuel Humphries, Chiara and Veronica Smith; and his siblings, Timothy Dorman, Pricilla Hall, Alan Dorman and Christopher Dorman.
In 2018, the American College Health Association (ACHA) named him the ACHA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient for his contribution to College Health in the United States.
