He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Barbara Mahoney of Lexington, MA; his children, Michael Mahoney, Karen Ringheiser, Kathleen Ciancarelli (John), Timothy Mahoney (Julie) and Christina Stephan (Michael); and his grandchildren, Anna, Alden, Jacob, Christopher, Sarah, Nicholas, James, Natalie and Kaitlin. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
