He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Kanovitz and Minnie Kanovitz; and his siblings, Helen Tacker and Irving Kanovitz. He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his children, Brenda Klein (Josh), Joanne Kaye (Nancy Sherman) and Eric Kaye (Alyson); his grandchildren, Korei, Adriel, Lia Klein, Andrew, Myah Foreman-Kaye, Hannah, Ethan and Ryan Kaye; and his foster son John Duckworth.
