He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick J. O'Brien and Marjorie O'Brien (Rochford); his brothers, Patrick, Dennis and James O'Brien; and his sister-in-law Marcia O'Brien.

He is survived by: his wife Donna L. O'Brien (Gamache) of Leominster; his daughter Jennifer L. O'Brien (Deborah K. Robes) of Belchertown; his grandchildren, Jason, Alison Meizels, Emma, Grace, Benjamin Robes and Kenworthy; and his siblings-in-law, Ann O'Brien of Mount Pleasant, SC, Dennis Gamache (Denise) of Scottdale, AZ and Brian Gamache (Tamara) of Naples, FL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
