He was predeceased by: his parents, Domingo Vega and Luz Pagan (Vega); and his daughter Jenniffer Ortiz. He is survived by: his wife Madeline Ortiz (Rodriguez); his son Nelson Ortiz, Jr.; his siblings, Angelo, Concepcion, Robert, Iris, Isabel, Peter, Edna and Wanda; and his great grandchild Lloyd. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Nelson's memory can be made to Lawrence Recreational Summer Program, an organization close to his heart.
