He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Barnes and Edith Leavenworth Barnes; and his brother Richard Barnes of Pittsfield. He is survived by: his pet Neiko; his children, Susan Barnes of Lanesborough and James K. Barnes II of Lanesborough; and his brothers, Thomas Barnes of Cheshire and John Barnes of Maine.
