He was predeceased by: his wife Nancy G. Clinton (Dickson); and his brother Dennis Clinton (Brenda C.). He is survived by: his sons, John Clinton (Karen) of Amherst, NH, James R. Clinton, III of Rockland and David K. Clinton (Lindsay) of Hull; his grandchildren, Sarah, Alyse and Charlie Clinton; and his siblings, D. Kenneth Clinton and Rev. Katrina Clinton (Jo Ellen Fischer) of Attleboro. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
