We bid farewell to Fred Lewis Carter of Ipswich, Massachusetts, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on December 28, 2024 at the age of 91. Fred touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Forrest Carter and Bessie Carter (Temple); his son Forrest; and his stepgranddaughter Stephanie. He is survived by: his friend Dr. David Jewett; his wife Cathy Mackey-Carter; his daughters, Pam Demetrakopoulos (Jim) of Ipswich, MA, Beth LaRochelle (Daniel "Bugg") of Rowley, MA and Marylou Greenwood (Dennis) of Framingham, MA.; his former wife Maureen Carter (Wickstrom) of Ipswich; his grandchildren, Heidi, Erica, Melissa, Jessica, Gretchen, Brandon, Sarah, Annie and Katie; his stepdaughters, Christine Dwyer (Bill) of Boston, MA, Ellen Rose (Joe) of Ipswich, MA and Kathleen Gallanar (Dan) of Ipswich, MA; and his stepgrandchildren, Kelly, Jennifer, Michael, Will, Jessica and Andrew. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 1st 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Morris Funeral Home (45 N Main St, Ipswich, MA 01938). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
The family requests that any donations be made in Fred's memory to the Ipswich VFW Post 1093, 110 County Road, Ipswich, MA 01938.
