Eugene S. Conrad Obituary
Eugene S. Conrad, 97, of Ipswich, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Patricia (Ferguson) Conrad, with whom he shared 38 years of marriage.
Born in Essex, Gene lived in Gloucester as a young man while working for large construction companies that built highways and bridges in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Gene left construction and worked as an independent landscaper for many years. After meeting his wife Pat, they decided to build their home in Sanbornville, NH where they lived for 25yrs before returning to Ipswich to be closer to family. In his later years, Gene could be seen doing odd jobs around Coviello Antiques in Essex.
Gene enjoyed listening to music and frequently attended events at the Gloucester bandstand with Pat and her daughter Felicia. He was an avid reader and loved reading Western novels and his Bible.
In addition to his wife Patricia, Gene is survived by his stepchildren Randy Roberts and Felicia Selig, his siblings Shirley (Conrad) McCarthy, Norma (Conrad) Eason and her husband Brian Eason, Ralph Conrad and his wife Margaret (Sullivan) Conrad, sister-in-law Jean (Johnson) Conrad and many nieces and nephews.
Gene was predeceased by his parents Herbert and Bessie Conrad, his bothers Herbert Conrad, William Conrad and brother-in-law Ronald McCarthy.
A service for Gene will be held at Cape Ann Bible Church located at 8 Thompson St., Gloucester on Friday April 4, 2025, at 10:30 am. Graveside burial will immediately follow the service and a reception of light refreshments will be served back at Cape Ann Bible Church after internment.
