He was predeceased by : his wife Rosalina; and his brothers, Joao, Luis and Jose. He is survived by : his grandchildren, Antonio Esteves (Amanda), Stephanie Nistico (Lou), Brian (Colleen), Mathew Pereira (Melissa), Alissa, Lauren Alves (Jonathan) and Christopher Pereira; his great grandchildren, Lena, Mari Esteves, Camila, Jonas Pereira, Noah, Lana and Hanna Pereira; and his sister Ester.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joaquim's name to Our Lady of Fatima Parish.
