He was predeceased by: his siblings, Ronald Gillis (late Ann Gillis-Kearns), Catherine Kyle (late Bill) and Evelyn Bryan (late John). He is survived by: his wife Mary Gillis (Cibotti); his sons, John R. Gillis (Dawn) of Hyde Park and Christopher J. Gillis (Jean) of Canton; his grandchildren, Aidan, Eddie, Nick, Andrew and Nolan (Gillis); and his siblings-in-law, Thomas Cibotti (Kathleen) and Joseph Cibotti (Kathleen). He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and great friends.
