He was predeceased by: his wife Catherine M. (Gagner); his parents, Isiah Ashley and Ruth Ashley; his son Myron "Mickey" Ashley; and his brothers-in-law, Warren McManus and Ray Frazier.

He is survived by: his children, George Ashley (Terrey), David Ashley (Elisa), Mark Ashley (Kathi), Toni Ashley (Anthony Martin), Carol Childs (James), Beverly Frazier, Gail Sanderson (Sandy), Cathy McManus, Ruth Viera (Manuel) and Julie Hannah (Michael). He is also survived by 47 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.
