He was predeceased by: his parents, George Helring and Margaret Helring (O'Toole). He is survived by: his wife Maureen Gallagher; his children, Maureen Helring McLaughlin, Jeffrey E. McLaughlin of Clarks Summit, PA, Hyannis, Nancy Helring Meyers and Shawn D. Meyers of Chambersburg, PA.; and his sister-in-law Nancy Gallagher of Clarks Summit, PA..
