He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Lucinda; his parents, José Chaves Melo and Gloria Graça; his children, Hudson of Portugal, Maria Carmelia Nogueira (Miguel), Manuela Freitas (Melo) and Odelta Carvalho (Antonio); his grandchildren, Alise, Elizabeth, Michael, David, Alexis and Jared; his great grandchildren, AnaSofia, Mason, Wesley, Levi and Carolina; his siblings, Maria Sousa, Maria J. Freitas, Olivia Bairos, Lucinda Coelho, David Melo and João P. Melo; his son Mario Melo; and his brothers, Antonio Melo, Vitorino Melo and José M. Melo. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
