He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Knecht and Eleanor Knecht (Steinberger); his father-in-law George Jr.; and his brother-in-law Steven Letendre. He is survived by: his wife Vera M. Knecht (Hall); his siblings, Donna Patterson (Robert) of Millstadt, IL and Terry Knecht (Jeanne Phivan) of Iowa City, IA; his siblings-in-law, Sherry Letendre and George V. Hall III of Hudson; and his mother-in-law Lillian Hall. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
