Gerald Downie Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gerald Downie in Holyoke, Massachusetts, born in Chicopee, Massachusetts, who passed away on March 20, 2025 at the age of 69. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

In the sacred silence of farewell, Gerald is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. He was predeceased by: his father James Downie, Jr.; and his siblings-in-law, Linda Downie, Mark Placzek, Edward Remillard and Gerald Remillard.

He is survived by: his mother Irene L. Downie (Januszkiewicz) of Chicopee; his wife Laura S. Downie (Remilllard); his brothers, James Downie of Granby, Rick Downie (Jan) of Granby, CT and Steven Downie (Michelle) of Chicopee; and his sister-in-law Jean Placzek of Westfield. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends.
