He was predeceased by: his brother Paul Murphy. He is survived by: his children, Chris Murphy (Dana) of Hopedale, Matt Murphy (Jessica) of Mount Pleasant, SC, Carole Kallas (Murphy), Kevin Murphy (Tracy) of Hopkinton, MA, Meghann Remick (Murphy) and Nancy Carroll (Murphy); his grandchildren, Ryan, Brennan, Michael Murphy, Connor, Allie, Jack, Kady Murphy, Shane Kallas, Lily Kallas, Josh, Emma, Lulu Murphy, Frankie Remick, Ellie Remick, Ava, Timmy and Thomas Carroll; his sisters, Claire Murphy, Ann Nichols (Chris), Mary Lou Sheehan (Dan) and Betty Singleton (Paul); and his sister-in-law Linda Murphy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
