He was predeceased by: his parents, Ann Nelson (Hennebry) and Herbert Nelson; his son Michael; and his siblings, Jim, Herbert, William and Marylou.

He is survived by: his daughter Sharon Scherer (Brian) of Springfield, NH; his grandsons, Cody and James; and his nephew William Nelson of Bellingham.
