He was predeceased by: his mother Lona Bernice Hardesty (Richmond); and his brother Roy Hardesty. He is survived by: his siblings, James, David, U. S. Marine and Linda Goldsmith; his grandchildren, Andrew Hardesty, Benjamin Hardesty, Claire Hardesty, Diana Hardesty, Zeyla Hardesty, Zavia Hardesty and Max Burke; and his great grandchildren, Scarlett Tougas and Julian Hardesty.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to the American Heart Association or to Dana Farber Cancer Institute of Boston.
