He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Carmel and Ruth Sherman Carmel; his wife Pauline Mongue; and his brothers, Earl Jr. and Norman Carmel.
He is survived by: his children, Diane Sherman (Carmel) of Pittsfield, Joann Farrell (Kevin) of Dalton and Edward Carmel of Pittsfield; and his grandchildren, Damian Sherman, Brittany, Ryan (Chelsie), Brandon Farrell (Michelle), Sara, Pauline Carmel, James and Katelyn Scace.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Patrick's Church, Hinsdale Ma.
