He was predeceased by: his husband Jean M. Dempsey (Holstead). He is survived by: his children, Stephen M. Dempsey (Jennifer) of Mansfield, Kathleen Dempsey of Hingham and Susan E. Dempsey of Holbrook; and his grandchildren, Kevin Dempsey of Nashville and Katie Dempsey of Cambridge. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Richard may be made to Alzheimers Assn., MA Chapter, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
