We are sad to announce that on January 31, 2025, at the age of 97, John L. Slocum in Hingham, Massachusetts passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joseph Leslie and Harriet Riley Slocum; his wife Elizabeth Connaughton Slocum; and his children, Elizabeth (Stephen Markesich) of Kingston, MA, Martha of South Weymouth, MA, John (Ann Quinton) of Concord, MA, Thomas (Judy Dudley) of Bellingham, WA and Dean (Kerry Lynch) of Dartmouth, MA..
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 9th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home - South (809 Main St, Weymouth, MA 02190). A celebration of life was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 at 9:15 AM at the same location. A Mass was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Saint Francis Xavier Church (274 Pleasant St, Weymouth, MA 02190). A burial was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the St. Columba's Catholic Cemetery (465 Browns Ln, Middletown, RI 02842).
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Rhode Island Community Food Bank (https://rifoodbank.org) or to the John L. Slocum Civil Engineering Scholarship at the University of Rhode Island.
