He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Agnes Houghton (Blondeck) and Curtiss Houghton; his wife Mary Houghton; his children, Mary Beth Shertick, Michael Houghton (Jean), Julie Talbot (David) and Curt Houghton (Craig Matthews); his grandchildren, Rose, Hannah Shertick, Katie, Meghan Houghton, Nathaniel, Alexander and Cordelia Talbot; and his son-in-law Paul Shertick. He was also cherished by Papa' to his grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) or to the Disabled American Veterans (dav.org).
