He is survived by: his wife Catherine S. "Kay" Cantwell (Caggiano) of Haverhill; his children, Catherine Cantwell (Michael Young) of Newburyport, Robert J. Cantwell, Jr. (Ruth) of Berwick, ME, John R. Cantwell (Deborah) of Bradford, Ellen F. Lagasse (Kevin) of Plum Island and Bernard E. Cantwell (Deana) of North Andover; and his siblings, Erlene Dozibrin of Salem, NH, George Cantwell of Beverly and Pat Ross of Bradford. He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
