He was predeceased by: his wife Biruta Lavins; his parents, Harry Lavins and Maria Lavins; and his sister Ilona Ezerins. He is survived by: his children, Peter Lavins and Sarma Lavins; and his half-sister Ruth Matthews.
They ask that any donations be made in his honor to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
