“Dear Georgia, We were so shocked and sorrowed to hear about Smittys' passing. John is heartbroken. The night I meet John, he was hitch-hiking to Conn. to see Smitty. John began telling me of all their "adventures". I can't believe they did not end up in the big house at some point. They were two lucky fellows. On our wedding night Smitty was staying at our house, and we were supposed to go to a hotel. But we were too tired so we went home, where John and Smitty stayed up and reminisced. I went to bed, and after a while I heard the door open. I thought it was John. It was Smitty-feeling no pain. He thought he was in the guest room, and feel on the bed. I went to the guest room. John came to our room and he and Smitty spent our wedding night together. He was a good man, and we were all lucky to have had him as part of our lives With love and sympathy Beans”
