He was predeceased by: his son Steven Gillen; his son-in-law Duane McLevedge; his parents, Anna Gillen and Hugh Gillen of Boston; his stepfather Herbert J. Cleary Sr. of Winchester; and his sister Rita Servello.
He is survived by: his wife Eileen; his children, Kathleen (William Kidd), Maureen (Gordon Webber), Diane McLevedge of Weymouth, John (Wendy Gillen), Gary (Kim Gillen) and Kimberly (Mark Holmes); and his stepchildren, Edward, Janine Gill of Hingham, Roger, Barbara Gill of Pembroke, Brian, Karen Gill of Hanover, Maura, Paul Dawley of Scituate, Daniel and Kellie Gill of Boston. He is also survived by 20 nieces and nephews.
