Edward D. Parent Jr. Obituary
Edward Dosite Parent Jr., of Hamilton, joined his beloved wife Sally in eternal life on March 17th, 2021. Edward was born on October 12th, 1929 to the late Edward D. Parent Sr. and Ingar Marie (Petrain) Parent in Boston. He attended Tufts University and joined the Navy on March 5th, 1953, serving on the battleship USS New Jersey BB62 in the Korean War, garnering several medals in his tour of duty.
He married Sally on his birthday in 1959 and settled and resided in Hamilton where they raised their family of five children and remained active in the Saint Pauls Church community. Ed was an avid ship modeler and handcrafted over one hundred ship models. Specializing in those from the Civil War era that have been in numerous shows and museums around the country.
The work he put into these models spanned his entire lifetime and the hobby was a significant source of pride and joy for him and his entire family. Ed was pre-deceased by his wife, the love of his life, Sally. He also leaves his five children, Sharon Parent of Shapleigh, ME., Edward Parent lll and his wife Kimberly of Epping, NH., John Parent and his partner Doug Verville from Palomar Mountain, CA., Susan Boye and her husband Don of Hamilton and Jeffrey Parent and his wife Felicia from Topsfield.
Edward was blessed with seven grandchildren, Marco Hodges and his wife, Jackie, Angela Drougas, Christopher Drougas, Charlee Drougas, Brekton Drougas, Brianna Parent, Crystal Hodges and Rebecca Hodges and her husband Ramon Rosquete. Edward also leaves two delightful great-grandsons Gavin and Wesley Hodges, his brother, Peter Parent and his wife Joyce of Dover, DE., and his sister, Connie Donaldson and her husband Ernie Incorvati of The Villages, FL. Ed also leaves a hole in the hull of his ship modeling community, The Peabody Senior Center and the USS Constitution Model Shipwright Guild.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Due to the ongoing pandemic, services will be for immediate family only. Arrangements by the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
