He was predeceased by: his wife Judith Miller Bynum. He is survived by: his children, Alton C. Bynum, Jr. (Jacqueline) of South Hamilton and Daun M. Bynum King (Walter) of Somerville, AL; and his grandchildren, Stewart King, Sarah King Collins (Andrew), Michael King, Andrea Alexis (Igor), Michelle Partridge (Ben), Hannah Bynum, Alton Bynum III (Emmy), Leslie Bynum, Abigail Alexis, Lydia Alexis, Polly Partridge, Sadie Partridge, Henry Partridge, Johnny Partridge and Thomas Miller King.
