He was predeceased by: his parents, Morris Sanford and Ruby Sanford (Storms); and his brother Morris Leroy Sanford. He is survived by: his wife Carol A. Sanford (Dodero); his children, Christopher Sanford (Courtney) of Raleigh, Patricia Justice (Gregory) of Halifax and Donna Sanford-Walsh (Garrett Walsh) of Halifax; his grandchildren, James, Ellie, Joshua Sanford, Matthew Rogers, Hunter, Dylan Justice, Daniel and Brian Walsh; and his siblings, Carr Thomas Sanford (Nell) of Tennessee, Paul "Tucky" Sanford (Kate) of Tennessee and Shirley Reynolds. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
