He was predeceased by: his parents, George L. and Mary E. Fortier (Purcell); and his brothers, George P. Fortier and Donald E. Fortier. He is survived by: his children, Robert L. Fortier II (Jessica) of Springfield, Shelly M. Fortier of Holyoke and Nicole Zayes Manzano (Jose Manzano) of New York; his grandchildren, Isabella "Izzy" Manzano, Tre Demers, Joseph Rosati and Gauge Fortier; his siblings, William Fortier (Marie) of Crestview, FL, Jean E. Walker of Chicopee and John Fortier of California; and his former wife Addi Zayas Fortier of Springfield. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members, and numerous friends.
His family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society, P.O. Box 6307, Springfield, MA 01101-6307.
