He was predeceased by: his parents, L. Aubrey Smith and Mae Smith (Dionne). He is survived by: his wife Nancy (Lombardo); his children, Lauren Smith, Rachel Collette (Matt) and Stephen Smith (Molly); his grandchildren, Riley Smith and Tyler Collette; and his siblings, Robert Smith (Anne), Judith Daviau (John Brochu), Anne Sinclair (David), Margaret Chin (Thomas), Peter Smith, John Smith, Joseph Smith, James Smith and David Smith (Alicia). He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews.
