Vito J. Calomo Obituary
Vito J. Calomo, 79, of Gloucester husband of the late Josephine R. (Curcuru) Calomo passed away peacefully on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Care One at Essex Park Nursing Home in Beverly.
He was born in Gloucester on April 19, 1944, son of the late Joseph "Sandy" and Rose M. (Loiacano) Calomo.
Vito was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1962 and later attended North Shore Community College, receiving his associate degree in business. He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard.
He had several jobs throughout his life but being on the water as a fishing captain was his greatest passion. He enjoyed flying fish spotting planes, was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan but most of all was spending time with his grandson and namesake, Vito.
Vito was a 52-year member of the Gloucester Lodge of Elks and a 20-year member of the St. Peter's Club.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Vito is survived by his sons, Sandy J. Calomo and his wife Lorenza and Thomas Randazza; daughter, Allison Cecilio and her fiance' Jack Anderson; grandchildren, Vito P. Calomo, Robbie Arnold and his wife Krystle Arnold, Rachael Cecilio and Sophia Cecilio; 3 great-grandchildren, Cameron Arnold, Charlize Arnold and Remi Arnold; sisters, Ida Beaver, Nina Ciccariello and her husband Joseph; brothers, Michael Calomo and his wife Nina and Samuel Calomo; sister-in-law, Jean Favazza and many nieces, nephews and cousins whom he adored.
He is predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Benjamin Curcuru; Salvatore "Sam" Favazza; son-in-law, John F. Cecilio and sister-in-law, Susan Calomo.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
The burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
