Virginia M. Hale Obituary
Virginia M. "Ginny" Hale, 98, wife of the late Francis E. King, passed away following a tragic accident. Ginny was born in Gloucester, MA on March 8, 1924, and was the daughter of the late John H. Borgstrom Jr. and Emma (Carlson) Borgstrom.
Ginny and her sister Emma were raised by their Swedish grandparents, aunts and uncles, after their mother's death, and grew up in Pigeon Cove. She raised her two sons in Rockport. For many years Ginny took the train to Boston to work as an office worker and met many wonderful friends. In her later years, she filled her days with morning and afternoon walks, greeting many people on her way. People loved her positive attitude, unique personality, and her beautiful smile. Certainly, a one of a kind, beautiful woman, who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son Larry Hale and his wife Betsy (Quinton) Hale of Rockport; grandchildren Michael Hale of Gloucester, Kristine Hale of Beverly, Danyelle and Chris DiGuardia of Newbury, VT and Erin Plante of Hookset, NH; great grandchildren Ava, Siri and Haden Hale, Victoria, Andrew and Liam Willington, Georgia Grossi, Cameron and Olivia DiGuardia and Elara and Grayson Plante; dearest friends, Kris Carlson and Tom Philbrook of Rockport and so many others, too numerous to mention, throughout the Rockport community.
She was predeceased by her first husband Harold Hale and son, Steven Hale; sister, Emma Brown, and great granddaughter, Emilia DiGuardia.
In keeping with Ginny's strict wishes and requests, there will not be any visiting hours or service. Her burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, please pass along her kindness and love and pay it forward by doing something special for someone, in her memory.
Arrangements are by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, MA.
