Virginia F. Swinson Obituary

Virginia F. Swinson (Rowe) passed away in the early morning hours on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the age of 97.

Virginia (Ginny) was born in Rockport Massachusetts on July 16, 1927, to Walter & Martha Rowe.

Ginny lived her childhood & attended schools in Rockport where she also worked at Johnny's Luncheonette as a teen. Ginny married Howard J. Swinson of Gloucester in 1946; they were married for 63 years until Howard's death in 2008.

With amazing stamina & patience Ginny raised her four children always doing the best she could even during very challenging times. She worked as a wait person in various Gloucester establishments including Andrew's Luncheonette, the Coffee Cup, The Tavern and Camerons. Most of all Ginny devoted her life to the people she loved always putting them before her own needs and wants. She and Howard traditionally hosted years of July 4th Horribles Parade parties and Christmas Eve parties. Ginny loved the beach and picnicking at the "Pines" on the Back Shore. Ginny will be surely missed by all of us that still remain.

Ginny is survived by her daughter, Lynne Graham and husband Russell of Reading, MA; her son, John (Jack) Swinson and wife Laura of Rowley, MA; and her son, Glenn Swinson and wife Kim of Manchester, NH. Ginny is also survived by seven grandchildren Lisa, Laura, Leah, Corey, Garret, Meara, and Erika and nine great grandchildren: Dylan, Ryan, Eden, Lily, Ella, Brynleigh, Ava, Finnegan, and Mila; and her brother, Robert (Chuck) Rowe of Rockport, MA. Ginny is also survived by several family and in-law nieces, nephews, and surviving spouses. Ginny's son Timothy passed away in January of 2024 and her grandson Conor passed away in November of 2015.

She is predeceased by her siblings, Brenda Rowe, Walter Rowe and his wife, Glenn Rowe, Donald and Dot Rowe, Phyliss Nangle, and Betty Rowe. Ginny was also exceptionally close to her in-law family most being predeceased: Edith and George Hildonen, Phyliss and Charlie Levie, Gloria and Bob Madruga, Mary and Ray Lane, Ken and Stacia Swinson and Harold Swinson.
