Thomas V. Oliver Obituary
Thomas V. Oliver, 63, passed away on Sunday, February 2nd, 2025, peacefully at home.
Born in Gloucester on July 28th, 1961, to George and Gertrude (Howlett) Oliver, Tom was known for his kind spirit and deep commitment to those he loved. A proud graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1980, he built a life filled with purpose and warmth. In May of 1985, he married his beloved Cynthia (Archambault) Oliver, sharing 40 beautiful years together, a testament to their unwavering love and partnership. Tom dedicated 38 years of his life to a career at National Grid as a Lineman before transitioning to work as a Heavy Equipment Operator, always approaching his responsibilities with the same heartfelt dedication he brought to his family life.
Thomas and Cynthia shared a lifelong, loving marriage that blossomed into a home enriched by the laughter and love of their two children, Catherine and Joshua and three grandchildren Evan, Hailey and Spencer. Tom's devotion as a Papa was unmistakable—every moment spent with his grandchildren was a cherished adventure. Whether embarking on spontaneous outings, enjoying family camping trips, or simply delighting in the joy of spoiling his grandkids, Tom's heart was always full when he was with them. He also found great pleasure in traveling, fishing, and cruising the river in Gloucester, always in the company of his dear family and friends. An avid golfer and a lifetime member of the "Redneck Yacht Club" of Wingaersheek Beach—red solo cup in hand—Tom embraced every opportunity to celebrate life and create lasting memories with those he loved.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; his daughter, Catherine, and her husband, Chris of Salem, NH; his son, Josh, and his wife, Jen of Bradford, MA; and his 3 treasured grandchildren, Evan, Hailey Oliver, and Spencer LaPointe.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was predeceased by his two sisters, Carolyn Harris and Hilary Oliver, both of Gloucester, MA.
In lieu of traditional services, a Celebration of Life Party will be held at Minglewood Harborside in Gloucester on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Captain Courageous Room.
