Stanford D. Amero Obituary

Stanford David Amero, 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Beverly hospital after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Lucia A. (Pino) Amero.

Sandy was born at Addison Gilbert hospital to the late Earle D. and Margaret J. (Miller) Amero on January 20, 1948. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and graduated from Gloucester High School class of 1966. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and served from 1967-1971. Sgt Amero was stationed at Kunsan air base Korea during the Vietnam war. After serving his country he joined the Gloucester police department in 1974 and retired 35 years later in 2009. Sandy enjoyed from the time he was a teenager taking long trips on his motorcycle all over the east coast, Blue Ridge mountains, Canada, Florida and Prince Edward Island. He also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, target shooting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Sandy was a life member of the AMVETS, Cape Ann sportsman's club and was dedicated to many other organizations.

In addition to his wife Lucia, he is survived by his devoted sister-in-law Theresa Cummings, his daughter Jacquelyn (Amero) and her husband Wayne Carter. His grandchildren Nia (Amero) and husband David Stevens, John Tarr III, David Stanford Amero, Ashley (Carter) and her husband Nicholas Lytle, Juliana (Mattson) wife of Ted Landoe, Nicholas Mattson and his wife Danielle, Alaina and Adriana Stobie. His adored great grandchildren Gianna, Audry, Laney, Branson, Luanna, Amelia and Matthew.

He is also survived by his brother Mark Amero and wife Lisa as well as sister-in-law Joanne Amero.

Sandy was predeceased by his daughter Kellie Anne (Amero) Stobie, his parents Earle D. and Margaret J. (Miller) Amero, his brothers Jon and Earle (Rusty) Amero, his mother and father-in-law John and Muriel (Barratt) Pino.

At Sandy's request services will be held privately.
