Devoted husband of Joanne (Stocker) of 53 years. Cherished father to Salvatore "Sam" Gallo Jr. and Julie of Gloucester, Traci Perkins and Brad of Dover, NH, Heather Michaud, and Richard who resided with them in Gloucester.
Sam greatest joy were his granddaughters, Emily and Elizabeth Perkins, Caitlin, and Meagan Gallo.
Sam also leaves behind his sisters, Mary Nunes of Gloucester, Virginia Mason (Ken) of Londonderry, NH; his brother, Anthony Gallo Jr; sister-in-law, Margaret Stocker of New York; brother-in-law, Richard Stocker of Peabody; sister-in-law, Brenda Stocker of Washington State, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his childhood friends, Sam Frontiero and Jim Bordinaro.
Sam was predeceased by his parents, Anthony Gallo Sr. and Lawrenzia (Favazza).
Sam was a mechanic, starting at Coastal Tire & Appliance, and working at local shops in Gloucester. He had a passion for the ocean and enjoyed time at the boulevard, often with his partner in crime, Gibbs. He enjoyed reminiscing about the past and all the funny things he and his friends did with their cars, looking through pictures, reading the history of Gloucester and listening to music - Jimmy Buffet and Golden Oldies being his favorites and enjoyed just spending time with his family.
In keeping with Sam's wishes there will be no services. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date and Sam's ashes will be scattered at sea.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Sam's name to the Gorton's Specialty and Cancer Care Center of Addison Gilbert Hospital or Dr. Arsenian's Cardiac Department. Details can be found on Beth Israel Lahey Health Philanthropy's website.
