He proudly would wear his army cap and emblems along with his shirts representing the 1st Infantry, the Big Red One and Blue Spader division. He fought in WWII and the Korean War. He even was honored and met President Eisenhower.
Everyone that knew Bob would agree he was one of the nicest and most generous people you could have met. He was an active member for years with the Portuguese Church, Our Lady of Good Voyage and took pride in helping bake the infamous sweet bread at 4 am, that was sold at holidays and penny sales to support the church. He and Grace hosted the Crowning at the church for 2 years. Bob was a member of the Gloucester Elks, VFW, American Legion in Manchester, and Amvets organizations.

As the years went on, he and Grace spent winters in Florida, and when, back home, they enjoyed their time with family and friends in Gloucester, MA. Seaport Grille was his favorite spot to enjoy time with friends which he visited every Friday at noon like clockwork, then routinely make his way over to the VFW and Elks and then to his niece's house for lunch.
