Robert A. Gillette Obituary

Robert A. "Bob" Gillette, 90, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, February 27, 2025. He was the beloved husband of the late Gail M. (Beck) Gillette, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage.

Bob was born in Denver, Colorado, settling in Gloucester and Rockport after his tour with the United States Coast Guard. He enjoyed watching the New England Patriots, and of course, his home team, the Denver Broncos, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's many local sporting events. He loved listening to music, his favorite music artists were Brooks and Dunn, John Denver, Hank Williams, Jr. and Jim Reese.

Bob worked at Gloucester Engineering before retiring and part time during his retirement at Bass Rocks Golf Club for several years on the grounds crew. He kept active during his retirement years with various sports activities including cross-country skiing, bocce, and bike riding. He loved sharing his life with his wife and family, leaving a real legacy of love and caring with everyone who had the great fortune to know him and will be greatly missed. Bob was very active in local sports, coaching Pee Wee football for the West End Tigers for many years. He was an umpire, also playing in the local softball leagues. While in Massachusetts and Florida he was an avid golfer.

Bob is survived by his children, Cheryl Osgood and her husband Steven, Pamela Grabowski and her husband David, Patricia Burneson and her husband Paul, Michael Brennan and his wife Rosalind, Thomas Brennan, Kimalee Collins and her husband Jan, William Sweet and his wife Michelle along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; as well as his special angel, Almy Parsons. Bob was predeceased by his son, Daniel Gillette.

Services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's memory to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 and Senior Care Inc., 49 Blackburn Center, Gloucester, MA 01930.
