Richard G. Cabral Obituary

Richard G. Cabral, 88, of Gloucester, husband of the late Arline W. (Stass) Cabral, passed away peacefully with his children at his side on Sunday afternoon, December 18, 2022, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers.

He was born in Lowell, MA on November 25, 1934, son of the late Joseph and Lucy (Abreu) Cabral.

Richard was educated in the Lowell and Rockport school systems. He worked for Gorton's of Gloucester for many years in the maintenance department.

He met his beloved wife, Arline, when she visited family in Gloucester. It was a whirlwind romance and they married within months of meeting. Though some doubted such a rapid courtship would endure, they would enjoy 68 wonderful years together till her death.

He proudly served in the United States Army, enjoying lifelong memories of his time in Germany, though he would have preferred not being drafted on his honeymoon.

Richard enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, ship building and model trains. In his younger days he was a member of the Order of Red Men and later enjoyed many happy times with his beloved wife, Arline, at the VFW.

He will be greatly missed by his loving family and all that knew him and fondly remembered for his good nature and sense of humor. Richard could light up a room with his smile and the jokes he would tell. His cheery spirit will be missed by everyone he encountered.

He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Brancaleone, and her significant other, William Robinson; his son, Richard Cabral, and his wife, Karen; grandchildren, Joseph Brancaleone and his wife Renee, Richard Brancaleone and his wife Kate, Salvatore Brancaleone and his wife Caitlyn, Benjamin Cabral and his wife Alex, Katherine Murphy and her husband Mike and Rachel Cabral; great-grandchildren, Clayton Brancaleone, Scarlett Brancaleone, Lily Brancaleone and Matthew Brancaleone.

He was predeceased by his grandson, Chris Cabral and his son-in-law, Salvatore Brancaleone.

In keeping with Richard's wishes services and burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the Dementia Society of America, P.O.
