Ralph G. Hobbs Jr. Obituary

Ralph "Bud" Hobbs Jr, 81 of Gloucester, MA passed away Monday, August 26th at Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester. Born and raised in Gloucester, Bud attended St. Mel's Day School and graduated from Gloucester High School in 1962. After High School, Bud moved to Hawthorne, CA where he spent a year exploring new opportunities. Bud then returned home to begin his career as a Gloucester fire fighter. Rising through the ranks, Bud earned the position of Captain, the position he retired from after forty years serving the Gloucester community. An entrepreneur at heart, Bud founded and operated several successful Gloucester businesses, including Hobbs Companies, Cape Ann Septic Service, Main Deck Properties and Magnolia Self Storage located on Kondelin Road in Gloucester.

Several years after retiring from the Gloucester Fire Dept, Bud met Ann. Together they spent fifteen years enjoying their time together, traveling, working, and spending time with Ann's family.

Bud had many passions. During his children's early years the family spent many summer seasons boating on the back side of Crane Beach and along the Annisquam River. Bud never missed an opportunity to run at wide open throttle down the Annisquam. In later years Bud loved spending time with his grandchildren, and continued running his business until his passing.

Bud is survived by his loving long-time partner, Ann Sideri and family, his former wife and mother of his children, Brianna Hobbs, Keith Hobbs and daughter Isabella, Keven Hobbs and wife Jennifer Wallace, children Colby and Emerson Hobbs. Bud is also survived by his siblings Pat Wonson and husband Aut, Alison and her predeceased husband Bill, Jeff and his wife Margy, Maryanne and her husband Lenny. Bud was preceded in death by his father Ralph Hobbs Sr. and his mother May (Dulong) Hobbs.

To honor Bud's request, services will be privately held with immediate family.
