He is survived by: his wife Diane Galante (Downey); his children, Michelle Duason of Gloucester, Dawn Morris (Bruce) of Beverly Farms, Stephen Galante (William Pluckhahn) of Beverly Farms, Tracy DeCaro of Gloucester and Lisa Ide of Topsfield; his siblings, Salvatore Galante (Lori), Paul Galante (Josephine "Dolly"), Lucia Silveira (Gerald) of Gloucester and Mary Fulford (William) of Gloucester; his siblings-in-law, Carol Credit (Dennis) of Georgia, Janice Downey of Marlboro and Richard Downey of Marlboro; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Mark, Ben, Deon, Michael, Amanda, Zachary, Alexa, Mary Grace and Shaelyn; and his great grandchildren, Griffin, Brynn and Gabrielle. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Contributions may be made in Sonny's memory to Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester.
